With a boat ramp and jetty, Callala Bay is a great base to explore the crystal-clear waters of Jervis Bay. You can learn to sail with Jervis Bay Sailing Club. This scenic spot is also on the doorstep of Jervis Bay National Park, where you can follow the Hare Point walking track through sand forest and dunes to a pretty inlet. Nearby Hare Bay is popular with paddle boarders, kayakers and jet skiiers because of its calm waters.

Open the second Saturday of each month, browse the stalls at Callala Markets, which sell homewares, bespoke jewellery, local pottery, handmade candles, boutique clothes, wood work and more. For a creative fix, sign up to an art class at Callala Gallery.

Explore nearby villages

Just south of Callala Bay is gorgeous Callala Beach, the longest beach in Jervis Bay, and backed by a reserve with barbecues and picnic tables. At Club Callala enjoy a bite to eat and a round of golf on the 18-hole course where kangaroos roam. A courtesy bus operates around the local area seven days a week.

Nearby is the village of Myola, located on the banks of Currambene Creek, a popular fishing spot. You can rent a boat from Husky Hire-A-Boat at Woollamia Boat Ramp and explore the pretty waterway, or a stand-up paddleboard, kayak and bikes from JBS Myola. For a fun day out, take the Husky Ferry from Myola to Huskisson, where dolphin and whale-watching cruises depart.

Getting there

Part of the Shoalhaven region on the NSW South Coast, Callala Bay is just under a three-hour drive from Sydney or a 2.5-hour drive from Canberra. Make a road trip of your journey there by driving along the stunning Grand Pacific Drive.
