Easter Egg Hunt, Kilmore
The Easter holidays are a special time in NSW, offering families and friends the opportunity to spend time enjoying diverse attractions and events. You’ll find many things to do and see for the whole family.
Across NSW there are exciting events taking place over the Easter weekend. Head to Griffith for the Griffith Easter Party, a multi-day celebration of fun festivities, which coincides with the end of the years vintage. It’s a chance for parents to enjoy the wine and food while the kids enjoy the activities. On Easter Sunday, spend the morning at Piccolo Family Farm exploring the local produce stalls at their Easter Sunday Producers Market.
In the Hunter Valley, the Hunter Valley Gardens offers a fantastic program of activities and entertainment including an Easter egg hunt with thousands of brightly coloured eggs to collect. Enjoy a wine and chocolate tasting event at Scarborough Wine Co and shop at the Easter Boutique Markets at Maitland Regional Art Gallery.
The Back O' Bourke Easter Festival is a multi-day celebration, with events and festivities for the whole family. Take a twilight Jandra cruise, join the Easter Colour Run on Good Friday, enjoy the markets and street parade on Easter Saturday and attend the Easter sunrise service and pancake breakfast on Easter Sunday.
The Lightning Ridge Easter Festival is packed full of exciting events including the Miners Challenge, a float parade, horse races, an Easter egg hunt, markets and fireworks displays. Or head to the North Coast for the annual Taree Easter Powerboat Classic on the Manning River.
The Cronulla Mall transforms into a fun-filled arena over the Easter weekend, for the Cronulla Easter Show. Expect stilt walkers, jugglers, farm animals, face painting and pony rides along with the sideshow alley, markets, food stalls and kids rides.
Autumn is a beautiful time of year in NSW and a great time to admire the changing colours of leaves across the state. Bathurst hosts the Autumn Colours Heritage Festival from 24 March to 14 May, celebrating the autumn harvest with local produce, and the region’s heritage with history tours and talks, walks and events.
Explore the Riverina, and admire the spectacular seasonal colours in Wagga Wagga, Gundagai and Tumut. The last of which hosts the Falling Leaf Festival on 28 and 29 April, with live music, kids' entertainment, market stalls and roving entertainment.
Head to the Cowra Japanese Garden for five-hectares of beautiful autumnal colours. In the Blue Mountains, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden in Mount Tomah is a fantastic place to enjoy the colourful transformation. Time your trip with the Mayfield Garden Autumn Festival in Oberon, from 1 April to 25 April, and discover 65 hectares of beautiful gardens to enjoy.
Further west in Orange, get involved in Australia’s longest-running regional food festival, Orange F.O.O.D Week. Ten days of events, long lunches, markets and more celebrating the Orange region’s diverse and high-quality food and wine. Taking place from 24 March to 2 April. It’s a lovely time of year to visit the region and as the name suggests, you will be treated to some beautiful orange scenery at this time of the year too.
